In June 2012, as contributions to the Rio+20 conference, SGI organized showings of its sustainable development exhibition "Seeds of Hope" that was created jointly with Earth Charter International, and cohosted a roundtable discussion on education titled "The Future We Create."

Tohoku Women and Reconstruction

On March 14, 2012, the Soka Gakkai Women's Peace Committee in Japan held a seminar on "Women and Reconstruction." Sanae Takahashi and Miyako Nakano from Tohoku share how they rebuilt their lives following the March 11, 2011, earthquake and tsunami. Professor Kevin Clements from Otago University in New Zealand was guest speaker.

A tribute to Usman Awang, one of Malaysia's best-loved poets. Held on September 25, 2011, as the culmination of Soka Gakkai Malaysia’s “Month of Peace,” the event included readings in six different languages and musical interpretations of the poet's works.

On May 11, 2010, a petition of signatures from over 2 million Japanese youth was presented to the UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs at the SGI-USA Culture Center in New York City. The petition, collected by Soka Gakkai youth members, called for the adoption of a Nuclear Weapons Convention that would comprehensively ban nuclear weapons.

Peace events held by Soka Gakkai youth in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in July 2011 to commemorate victims of the atomic bombings and call for the abolition of nuclear weapons.
