In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Young Men's and Young Women's groups within the Soka Gakkai, SGI-Cameroon youth members held a tree-planting in the Douala, the largest city in Cameroon, on March 19. Together with the municipal authorities of Douala, and with the support of the Cameroon-based organization Groupement d'Initiative Commune("common initiative group", the youth planted 60 young Acacia trees in the area of Douala known as Bonamoussadi.
The Acacia tree is known for its resilience and fast-spreading growth. SGI-Cameroon members of Bonamoussadi district expressed their wish to install public benches in the area where the trees were planted, so that they could be enjoyed by people in the community.
