SGI-Italy Sponsors Lecture on Biodiversity
SGI-Italy members in Sardinia sponsored a lecture on biodiversity in Cagliari on October 9. Professor Giovanni Onore from the Otonga Foundation in Ecuador--an organization that aims to protect and preserve the forests of the Andes--emphasized that protecting biodiversity is of the utmost importance for human beings. He also spoke about the necessity for environmental education in raising awareness about environmental issues for the sake of the future.
Alessia Atzeni, an ornithologist, introduced SGI's environmental activities at the meeting. Recently, the SGI, together with the Earth Charter Initiative, has created an exhibition titled "Seeds of Hope: Visions of sustainability, steps toward change." This exhibition aims to raise awareness about the interconnectedness of all life and the need to broaden our sphere of compassion and concern. It encourages viewers to overcome feelings of powerlessness and highlights the fact that a single individual can initiate positive change.
