Cherry Tree Planting Held in Denver, Colorado, USA

On April 25, 2010, SGI-USA members in Denver, Colorado, planted 40 yoshino and yae cherry trees at City Park and Washington Park in Denver. The event was cosponsored by the Japanese Firms Association of Colorado (JFA).

Approximately 350 people gathered, including SGI-USA members, JFA staff and their families, students from local Japanese schools, municipal employees and staff of the Japanese Consulate General.

In 1989, members in Denver donated 100 cherry trees to the city, commemorating the opening of the SGI-USA Denver Culture Center. Since then, SGI members in the city have planted 1,200 cherry trees at 17 venues.
