From October 20-24, 2008, “Seeds of Change: The Earth Charter and Human Potential,” an exhibit highlighting the Earth Charter as a guideline for sustainable living and environmental preservation, was shown at the Amambay Department Office in Pedro Juan Caballero City, Paraguay. Some 200 attended the opening, including many local high school students. Following singing of the national anthem, Amambay Governor Juan Bartolomé Ancho Ramírez, stated that the exhibition, which clarifies those actions humanity can take to begin solving environmental problems, offered an opportunity for individuals to think about how they can help. SGI-Paraguay General Director Kaoru Kurita commented that we need to work together to preserve life-sustaining habitats. Nearly 1,500 visited the exhibition. A City Councilor of Pedro Juan Caballero remarked after viewing the display that he was more determined to take action to protect environment.
