Paraguayan Universities Host "Seeds of Change" Exhibition

"Seeds of Change" exhibition at the National University of Pilar

"Seeds of Change: The Earth Charter and Human Potential," an exhibition on sustainable development, the role of education and the Earth Charter Initiative, has recently been displayed at two universities in Paraguay. From March 31 to April 4, 2008, the exhibition was on show at the National University of Pilar in Pilar City, Ñeembucú. University Vice Rector Adolfo Villasboa expressed his appreciation to the SGI for organizing the inspirational exhibition and shared his impressions after viewing the exhibition. He commented that it reinforced his belief that it is time to modify our behavior so we can protect the Earth for our children and he voiced his wish that the university would fulfill its responsibility to educate for environmental sustainability. Cecilia Aguilera, dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Education, remarked that the exhibition's message that a single individual's inner transformation could contribute to sustainable development, is one that will resonate with students.

Previously, the Catholic University of Our Lady of Asunción in Encarnación City, Itapúa, hosted the exhibition from March 24 to 28. Guests attending the opening included Acting Rector Dr. Jesús René Haurón and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology Mario Zaputovich, who commented that the exhibition teaches that we must protect the Earth with our own individual efforts.
