As part of a 15-year tradition, members of SGI-Korea's Student Group hosted various culture and peace events in May and in June to promote nuclear abolition. This year, from May 5 to June 3, student group members sponsored such events at 178 venues at 141 universities throughout the nation. Over 93,000 people attended.

Participants enjoyed exhibitions, video screenings and seminars based on topics from SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's annual peace proposals which address various global issues and emphasize the importance of respecting the dignity of life and the value of dialogue in finding solutions.

This year's specially created exhibition focused on the theme of interdependence and on building solidarity and a network of peace through a sense of empathy and care for others. In addition to introducing Mr. Ikeda's activities for the promotion of peace, the exhibition highlighted the life of Mahatma Gandhi.

Universities that hosted the events included Busan University of Foreign Studies, the Catholic University of Korea, Daejeon University, Dong Eui Institute of Technology, Hallym University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Korea National University of Transportation, Kunsan National University, Kyonggi University and Silla University.
