SGI-USA Men March Against Domestic Violence
SGI-USA men march in the parade against domestic violenceOn July 23, men from SGI-USA in the Seattle, Washington, area marched in the "Men's March Against Domestic Violence" in the Renton River Days parade--a multi-day family festival and celebration of community pride. This was the ninth consecutive year that SGI-USA members have participated in the march. SGI-USA has also received recognition from the City of Renton for its ongoing support.
Local members decided to participate in the march after being inspired by the SGI-USA youth's "Victory Over Violence" initiative. The program helps young people identify and counteract the root causes of violence in their lives and promotes a culture of peace in the community. One SGI member commented, "This march is showing that men are standing up in the community. It's important that people know we are out here."
