Exhibition on Nuclear Abolition Shown in Peru
From May 23-29, SGI-Peru hosted the exhibition "From a Culture of Violence to a Culture of Peace: Transforming the Human Spirit" (THS) at the Callao Youth Cultural Center in Callao, part of Lima Metropolitan Area.
At the opening held on May 23, guests included Department of Social and Cultural Services Director Emilio Alfredo Calderón Gaudry and National University of Callao Administrative Affairs Vice Rector Dr. José Cáceres Paredes.
SGI-Peru General Director José Juárez Salazar spoke about Soka Gakkai's activities to promote nuclear abolition, which date back to second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda's declaration calling for the abolition of nuclear weapons made on September 8, 1957.
Dr. Cáceres expressed his appreciation for the exhibition, which he said stimulates people's interest in peace. He also expressed his belief that SGI will continue to make positive changes in society and contribute to the wellbeing of humanity.
The THS exhibition underlines the importance of transforming the human spirit in order to create a world free of nuclear weapons. To date, the exhibition has been shown in 27 countries and territories.
