SGI-Argentina Hosts Peace Festival

On February 27, 2010, SGI-Argentina held a culture festival at a stadium in Buenos Aires to commemorate Argentina's bicentennial and the Soka Gakkai's 80th anniversary.

Over 10,000 attended the festival, including Dr. Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, 1980 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate; Presidency Under-Secretary- General Gustavo López; and Minister of Education Alberto Sileoni. Other guests included University of Buenos Aires Rector Rubén Hallú and Lidia de Pugliese, widow of the late Argentine tango maestro Osvaldo Pugliese.

In his remarks, Rector Hallú expressed his belief in the importance and value of SGI-Argentina's various activities for peace, culture and education. Similarly, Dr. Esquivel commended SGI-Argentina for bringing hope and a vision of peace to society and shared his wish for future generations to embody this same spirit.

SGI President Daisaku Ikeda sent a message congratulating the SGI-Argentina members on the holding of the festival and expressed his respect for their ongoing contributions to the betterment of society.
