SGI-South Africa Receives Gandhi Remembrance Organization Award

On January 31, 2010, the Gandhi Remembrance Organization commended SGI South-Africa for its contributions to the community.

The Gandhi Remembrance Award was presented at a ceremony held at Tolstoy Farm, in southern Johannesburg, where Gandhi lived in the early 1900s. Gandhi named the farm after Leo Tolstoy in recognition of their friendship.

Christopher Kabosha and Nancy Moboshane accepted the award on behalf of the SGI-South Africa members.

The ceremony also commemorated Gandhi's assassination 62 years ago and coincided with the scattering of Gandhi's last remaining ashes off the coast of Durban, South Africa, on January 30.
