"Transforming the Human Spirit" Exhibition Shown in Canada
The exhibition at Windsor Public Library
From January 26-28, 2010, SGI-Canada organized the exhibition "From a Culture of Violence to a Culture of Peace: Transforming the Human Spirit," at Windsor Public Library in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
On January 26, an opening event was held commemorating the 35th anniversary of the founding of the SGI as well as the annual submission of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's peace proposal to the United Nations.
The morning reception
Over 70 guests attended the morning reception which began with a message from the Mayor of Windsor, Eddie Francis. Welcoming words followed from Chair of Windsor Public Library, Mr. Ray Guillet and SGI-Canada General Director Tony Meers.
Guests included students from Windsor's Academy St. Cecile International School and exchange teachers from Colombia. An exchange teacher and students from Taiwan also attended.
Prior to the official viewing of the 36 panel exhibition, a cultural performance featuring Windsor resident, Padma Lal, was shown. In her performance, Ms. Lal sang a song about peace in Sanskrit, English and Hindi.
