From March 25-27, 2009, SGI-Philippines' Southern Mindanao General Chapter (SMGC) youth members organized the "Building a Culture of Peace for the Children of the World" exhibition at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Building in Davao on Mindanao Island. The exhibition supported the 72nd annual celebration of the Araw ng Dabaw (Davao Day) festival that takes place every March 16.

City Councilor Pilar Braga and Halila Sudagar, president of the City Sangguniang Kabataan (Youth Council) Federation, attended the opening. Councilor Braga read a message from the Vice Mayor during the opening, which expressed appreciation to SGI-Philippines SMGC for their peace efforts and for initiating an activity that benefits young people in Davao and other areas of the island. More than 2,000, including students, teachers, civil leaders, military personnel and local residents, visited the three-day exhibition.
