Soka Gakkai Indonesia Holds Women's Peace Conference

720 SGI-Indonesia women and young women and their friends attend Women's Peace Conference

On August 27, Soka Gakkai Indonesia (SGI-Indonesia) sponsored its First Women's Peace Conference at the Jakarta center. The aim of the conference, titled "The World Is Yours to Change," was to promulgate "cultures of peace" in local communities and society at large through the solidarity of women. Since the establishment of May 14 as "SGI-Indonesia Women's Day," the women and young women have been engaging in activities, brimming with joy and resolve. In a message, SGI President Daisaku Ikeda encouraged the participants to burn with hope, indomitable courage and invincible victory. Following a Peace Declaration that reflected each woman's determination, SGI-Indonesia Women's Leader Gouw Sok Hun called on the participants to fulfill their respective missions for peace and help create a citadel of assurance and hope in Indonesian society. Mrs. Ibu Ruslan, Indonesian Veterans' Wives Association (Ketua Perkumpulan Istri Veteran Indonesia) president, said she was confident the SGI-Indonesia women would be instrumental in leading their society to peace.
