119th Hiroshima Study Lecture Series--"The War Generation's Pacifism"

Dr. Reiji Fujimoto recounts his personal war experience at a Soka Gakkai-sponsored lecture in Hiroshima

On August 2, Hiroshima Soka Gakkai sponsored its 119th Hiroshima Study Lecture at the Hiroshima Memorial Peace Center, inviting former Hiroshima City University President Reiji Fujimoto to speak on "The War Generation's Pacifism." Dr. Fujimoto began his talk saying, "This is the first time for me to speak about my personal war experience." Recounting the pain of watching his friends die in air raids during World War II and the nightmarish scenes and events that followed, he expressed outrage at the evils of war that so casually exploited and wasted the lives of an entire generation of youth. He referred to the many wars and conflicts in today's world that are victimizing ordinary civilians. Dr. Fujimoto expressed his expectations of the youth present to foster a heart of tolerance to help create a warless era.
