Over 20,000 Visit "Women and the Culture of Peace" Exhibition in Kagoshima Prefecture

The Soka Gakkai's "Women and the Culture of Peace" exhibition, which opened on May 10, 2006 at the Soka Gakkai Kagoshoma Culture Center in Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, is receiving favorable responses. Over 20,000 visited in the first six days. Created by the Soka Gakkai Women's Peace Committee and the Young Women's Conference on Peace and Culture in consultation with renowned peace activist Elise Boulding, the exhibition clarifies the concept of a culture of peace, illustrates the need to respect cultural diversity, and pays tribute to women who have devoted their lives to creating lasting peace. Colorful sections display dress and artifacts from many different countries and cultures. SGI women's activities promoting a culture of peace and women's empowerment are also presented. The show runs through May 21. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Entrance is free.
