SGI-Bolivia Hosts Buddhist Seminar

Nur University students and SGI youth collaborate on Buddhist seminar

On April 3-4, SGI-Bolivia held a Buddhist seminar at the SGI-Bolivia Culture Center in Santa Cruz, in collaboration with Nur University, Bolivia. Since July 2003, SGI Bolivia has hosted lectures and seminars on Buddhism, at the request of Professor Juan Martinéz of Nur University, a former Bolivian education minister. This was the tenth lecture.

Following an introduction of SGI's activities for peace, culture and education, Nur University representatives gave a presentation on creating peace. An SGI-Bolivia representative also gave an overview of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's annual peace proposals as well as how Buddhism contributes to humanity based on the concept of human revolution, an inner-directed self reformation. Professor Martinéz stated that the idea promulgated by Mr. Ikeda that a great revolution of character in just a single individual can transform the world is the key to peace, expressing his hopes for the students to work to build a peaceful society through their own personal development.
