Soka Gakkai Women's Peace Committee Sponsors Culture of Peace Forums

The Soka Gakkai Women's Peace Committee's (WPC) "Culture of Peace" forums have been well-received across Japan.

On February 25, during a forum held at the Tsukuba Culture Center in Ibaraki Prefecture, Keiko Murakami, Kumiko Sawahata, Tokue Nakazawa and Kiriko Otsukawa shared experiences spanning international exchanges, caregiving and dealing with a child who refused to go to school because of interpersonal problems. Eiko Asakura of the Tsukuba Human Rights Protection Council gave commentaries on the testimonials and expressed appreciation for the speakers' candid and inspirational talks about reaching out to people and making a difference.

On the same day, a "Peace Forum: Testimonial Rally" was held at the Maebashi Peace Center. Eiko Takayama, Gunma WPC chair, gave opening words. Fusako Kogure, Kisako Iwada, and Yachiyo and Ai Osuga, mother and daughter, talked about being able to overcome hardships through their practice of Nichiren Buddhism and creating "Cultures of Peace" in their personal lives. Hiroshi Kobayashi, a member of the Gunma Prefecture Broadcasting Association Board, lauded the social contributions and peace activism of the speakers, as well as that of the participants.
