Soka Gakkai Women's Peace Committee Hosts Peace Forums in Chiba, Tochigi and Ibaraki

"Culture of Peace" forum in Kisarazu City, Chiba

On February 3 and 4, 2006, Soka Gakkai's Chiba Prefecture Women's Peace Committee hosted a "Culture of Peace" forum at the Soka Gakkai Kisarazu Culture Center in Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture. Four women shared their experiences that included a first-hand account of war and involvement with a nursing care for the elderly. In his lecture at the forum, Professor Ako Kato of Seiwa University explained the "Four Essences" of "Great Learning" from a Confucian classic, The Book of Rites,--cultivating individuals; regulating families; governing states; and bringing tranquility and happiness to the empire. He expressed his respect for Soka Gakkai members' efforts to develop themselves and contribute to their respective communities. On the same day, three women shared their experiences at a forum in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture. The Ibaraki Prefecture Women's Peace Committee also sponsored a forum on February 3 in Tsuchiura City.
