Nagasaki Soka Gakkai Youth Hosts Peace Forum

On August 7, Nagasaki Soka Gakkai youth hosted a peace forum at the Soka Gakkai Nagasaki Peace Center in Nagasaki City. Nagasaki Soka Gakkai advisor Tsugiya Umebayashi, an atomic bomb survivor, spoke about his own war experience and asked youth to continue to work to abolish nuclear weapons. The Nagasaki Soka Gakkai Youth Peace Committee, the Young Women's Peace and Culture Conference and the Student Division's Peace Committee made appeals for peace. The results of a peace survey that the Nagasaki Soka Gakkai Youth Division recently conducted on some 10,000 youth in Nagasaki Prefecture, was also presented.

Today, August 9, 2005, Nagasaki commemorates the 60th anniversary of the dropping of an atomic bomb. Nagasaki Soka Gakkai will hold a special memorial service in solemn tribute to victims of the atomic bomb and all wars throughout the world, at the Soka Gakkai Nagasaki Peace Center.
