Peace Step Compiled by Soka Gakkai Young Women's Peace and Culture Conference Available Soon

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II, Daisanbunmei Publishers will publish Peace Step, a book compiled by Soka Gakkai Young Women's Peace and Culture Conference (YWPCC) aiming to raise public awareness of peace issues, especially among young generations. The first section, "Peace Image," highlights of results of a survey on attitudes about war and peace that the YWPCC conducted earlier this year in 15 major cities in Japan. In the second section, "Peace Action," YWPCC's activities, such as lecture series, peace forums and exhibitions, and Soka Gakkai young women's grassroots peace efforts in their respective fields are introduced. Section three, "Peace Creator," introduces world renowned women peace activists such as Wangari Maathai, founder of the Green Belt Movement in Kenya and 2004 Nobel Peace Laureate, and American civil rights activist Rosa Parks.

Peace Step is 500 yen including tax, and is available beginning August 1, 2005 at major bookstores and Seikyo Book Corners at Soka Gakkai centers throughout Japan.
