Southeast Asian Foundation for Children's Television Commends SGI President for Children's Animation Series

A delegation from Southeast Asian Foundation for Children's Television (SEAFCTV), headed by President Edgardo C. Roces, traveled to Japan to present SGI President Daisaku Ikeda with its Anak TV Broadcasters' Award. Mr. Ikeda was recognized for his contributions to Philippine broadcasting through the animation series, titled Happy Tales, based on children's books he has authored. The conferral took place at the Min-on Culture Center on June 26, where SGI Vice President Hiromasa Ikeda received a plaque on his father's behalf, from President Roces.

Created in 2002, the Anak TV Broadcasters' Award is the highest honor give by Philippine broadcasters for significant contributions by individuals to the betterment of Philippine broadcasting, especially for children's programs. Mr. Ikeda joins TV producer Feny de los Angeles Bautista, known for coproducing Sesame Street in Filipino, as well as producing and airing the pre-school program Batibot for the past 17 years on Philippine TV; and Gina Lopez, pioneer of educational television in the Philippines, managing director of the ABS-CBN Foundation and founder of both Bantay Bata 163, a child-caring organization, and the environment conservation program Bantay Kalikasan.
