Soka Gakkai Malaysia Takes Part in Televised Interfaith Forum

On October 23, representing Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) Perak, Mr. Tan Sai Hoi and Ms. Fung Poh Chee took part in a forum broadcast by Malaysia's TV Al-Hijrah titled "Dialogue On Harmony Among Religions." The forum participants highlighted that all religions call for unity and harmony and expressed the importance of fostering interfaith understanding irrespective of creed, race or color.

The forum was the result of collaboration between TV Al-Hijrah, the Prime Minister's Department, the Council of Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Perak (MAIPK), the State of Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIP), the Chinese-Muslim Association of Ipoh (Macma-Ipoh) and SGM Perak.

Dato' Dr. Fadzli Cheah, the chairman of Macma-Ipoh, and officials from JAIP attended the event, which was officiated by Al'Fadhil Ustaz Harith Fadhilah b Hj Abdul Halim, assistant director of Perak State's Islamic Religious Department.

SGM representatives shared the philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism and their activities to promote peace through education, art and culture. Y.Bhg Mr. Abdul Naser Abdul Rahman and Y.Bhg Dr. Yamin Cheng, both lecturers from the International Islamic University Malaysia, were speakers at the forum.
