City of Perugia
On March 2, 2009, representatives from SGI-Italy and the Catholic Ecumenical Center met for an interfaith activity in Perugia, located in Italy's Umbria region. Coordinator Monsignor Elio Brumiri of the Catholic center and SGI member Marco Calcagni both spoke at the event. Mr. Calcagni talked about the underlying principles of the SGI and SGI President Daisaku Ikeda’s commitment to peace, introducing Mr. Ikeda's dialogues with cultural and political leaders around the world. Among the questions asked by participants was one concerning the relationship between God and Buddhism. Another question was about Buddhist prayer. The event organizers reported that the vibrant interfaith dialogue was meaningful.
