Soka Gakkai Youth Lecture Focuses on Promoting Human Rights
On January 23, Ms. Shin Sugok, human resources development consultant and human rights activist, gave a talk entitled "Cultivating the Strength to Protect Human Rights," as part of the third Soka Gakkai Youth Lecture Series held at the Nippon-seinenkan (Japan Youth Center) in Tokyo.
Ms. Shin spoke about the importance of cultivating a culture of human rights and emphasized the need for society to focus on and care for those who are most vulnerable in society. She focused specifically on those affected by the March 11, 2011, earthquake in Japan. Ms. Shin also discussed the valuable role religion plays in helping to address issues of life and death.
