From October 1-4, 2009, members from the Singapore Soka Association's (SSA) Soka Volunteer Group joined hands with interns from the Silver Ribbon Singapore (SRS) organization to pack 10,000 information and support packages to combat the stigma of mental illness.

The packages were created to help raise people's awareness of mental illness and to address stereotypes and biases attached to the illness. Over a period of three-and-a-half days, 100 Soka Volunteer Group members worked on this project. The packages were later distributed to the general public at the World Mental Health Day 2009 celebration held at Cheng Yan Place, Singapore on October 10.

World Mental Health Day was started by the World Federation for Mental Health in 1992 and is celebrated each year on October 10. Mental Health Day promotes greater public awareness and understanding of mental illness.

SRS is a nonprofit organization launched by President S. R. Nathan of Singapore on February 4, 2006, and also focuses on educating the public about mental health and encourages early treatment. It is an affiliated member of the World Federation for Mental Health.
