On July 20, 2008, Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) Johor held a one-day blood donation drive at the SGM Johor Culture Centre in Batu Pahat. A total of 134 packs of blood were donated to a local blood bank. This was the sixth blood donation drive SGM Johor had organized in Batu Pahat.

SGM began conducting regular blood drives in 1999 to help ameliorate the shortage of blood at local hospitals and blood banks. Beginning with Penang, Sarawak and Sabah, which have held some 20 drives each, SGM has conducted a total of 100 blood donation drives throughout Malaysia.
