SGI-Ghana celebrated the 30th anniversary of the opening of the first SGI center on the African continent, the SGI-Ghana Center in Accra, at a general meeting with some 700 members on May 18.

The meeting was held in Tema, some 25 kilometers from Accra. Attending the meeting were members who had been engaged in building the SGI-Ghana Center over a six-year period up to 1984, overcoming many challenges as they did so, in the first years of their Buddhist practice.

Sintim-Aboagye Dolittle Kwaku, general director of SGI-Ghana, encouraged youth members to use the anniversary as an opportunity to initiate and engage in dialogue with renewed energy.
