SGI-Europe Representatives Hold Summit Meeting
Some 200 SGI leaders from 30 European countries gathered for an SGI European Summit from January 10 to 13 at the SGI European Training Center at Trets, France. The summit meeting provided a forum for country representatives to share and exchange goals and faith-based encouragement at the start of the year. Over the three days, participants shared activity reports, plans for 2013 and studied guidance on leadership based on chapters from The New Human Revolution, SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's novelized account of SGI's history.
On January 11, an SGI European youth summit was also held at Trets. Centering on the youth, SGI-Europe recently launched an "Actual Proof" campaign, whereby each individual strives to demonstrate in a concrete way the benefit of Buddhist practice in their life and environment in the lead-up to November 18 of this year. [November 18 marks the anniversary of the founding of the Soka Gakkai in 1930.]
Mr. Ikeda sent a message for the occasion, expressing his hopes for every participant to continue challenging themselves in their own personal development and to create positive change within their homes, workplaces and communities.
