SSA Members Take Buddhist Elementary Level Study Exam
SSA members studying for the examOn June 10, a total of 1,700 Singapore Soka Association (SSA) members took a Buddhist Elementary Level Study Exam at Northland Secondary School in Singapore.
Examinees were able to take the written exam in English or Chinese or an oral version of the exam either in Chinese (Fujian, Guangdong or Chaozhou) or Tamil.
Topics covered included the basics of Nichiren Buddhism and three passages taken from key writings of Nichiren: “On Attaining Buddhahood in This Lifetime,” “The True Aspect of All Phenomena” and “The Heritage of the Ultimate Law of Life.”
One of examinees, an 86-year-old woman, commented that through preparing for the exam she was able to deepen her appreciation for life and the value of each day.
