Spencer WestTraining course participants at the SGI-Austria Culture Center

Some 60 SGI leaders gathered at the SGI-Austria Culture Center in Vienna for the Eastern Europe Leaders' Training Course from October 26-28. Participants traveled from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia to attend the course.

SGI President Daisaku Ikeda sent a message encouraging participants to exert themselves based on faith to promote unity and strengthen bonds of friendship.

The course started with addresses from SGI-Europe Chair Hideaki Takahashi and SGI-Czech Republic Vice Women's Leader Terumi Ishiguro, who shared her experience in faith. She noted that it is 20 years since the first chapter was formed in what is now SGI-Czech Republic. Participants studied passages from The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin and SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's commentaries on the Buddhist concepts of Buddhist unity (itai doshin) and the mentor and disciple relationship.
