New SGI-Germany Center Opens in Munich

SGI-UKAt the SGI-Germany Munich Center (Nov. 18)

SGI-Germany celebrated the opening of a new center in Munich on November 17 and 18. With two prayer rooms and an office, the new center will serve as the main center for SGI members in the State of Bavaria.

On November 17, SGI-Germany and the Institute of Oriental Philosophy sponsored a lecture by renowned German nuclear physicist Hans-Peter Dürr at the new center.

Dr. Dürr gave a lecture entitled "Compassionate Dialogue" in which he discussed the value of dialogue that can transcend and unite various disciplines, such as the worlds of academia, culture and religion, and how this can contribute to advancing peace.

On November 18, the center hosted a variety of performances including jazz, classical, Greek and Brazilian music, as well as Japanese drumming. There was also a series of lectures on the philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism and the daily practice of SGI members.
