On December 16, SGI-Mexico celebrated the grand opening of its new center in Veracruz City. Some 400 people attended the event, which included folk dance and choral performances, as well as the unveiling and reading of a plaque engraved with a poem by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda titled "To My Noble Friends, the Bodhisattvas of the Earth of Veracruz." The poem was composed for the members of Veracruz when Mr. Ikeda and his wife, Kaneko, visited the city on his fifth trip to Mexico on June 29, 1996.

In his concluding remarks, SGI-Mexico General Director Roberto Rios shared his determination to help SGI-Mexico advance with unparalleled joy and harmonious unity.
