Organized by the youth members of Soka Gakkai Japan, the festivals include a variety of multimedia dance and music performances and are aimed at responding to SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's call for youth to become capable leaders in society who are committed to the advancement of peace. The festivals also mark the kickoff for the organization's theme for 2012: "The Year for Developing a Youthful Soka Gakkai." Many youth members also renewed their determination to work for the betterment of society toward 2030--the 100th anniversary of the Soka Gakkai.
