SGI's Founding Commemorated with Prayer Services

On January 26, the 36th anniversary of SGI's founding (January 26, 1975), SGI President Daisaku Ikeda and Mrs. Kaneko Ikeda visited the Soka Gakkai Mentor and Disciple Memorial Hall in Shinjuku Ward in Tokyo, Japan. Along with representative Soka Gakkai leaders, Mr. and Mrs. Ikeda offered prayers for lasting world peace.

On the same day, SGI leaders and members gathered at the Soka Gakkai Josei Toda International Center in Shinjuku to offer prayers. Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada spoke about a disciple as being one who puts into action the ideals expounded by the mentor. He called on those present, united with fellow SGI members around the world, to create a new era of world peace.
