SGI-Uruguay Women Hold Leaders Meeting
SGI-Uruguay women membersOn June 26, SGI-Uruguay women from all over the country attended a leaders meeting at the SGI-Uruguay Culture Center in Montevideo.
At the meeting, participants studied one of Nichiren's writings, "The Dragon Gate," through which they learned about the spirit of "many in body but one in mind." They also held group discussions, a theme of which was the mentor-disciple relationship.
One member spoke of how her Buddhist practice helped her to overcome many challenges to obtain a teaching post at one of the most prestigious universities in Uruguay. Choral and dance performances were given by members from Maldonado in the southeast of the country.
Pilar Ortíz, SGI-Uruguay women's leader, said that by striving to be the "sun" participants could impart courage to others.
