On February 9, SGI leaders met at the SGI-Thailand Thonburi Center in Bangkok to commemorate the 50th anniversary of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's first visit to Thailand (February 9, 1961).

Youth representatives presented a review of the history of SGI-Thailand. One of the first SGI members to practice in Thailand spoke about overcoming various obstacles in life during her 47 years of practicing Nichiren Buddhism. She expressed appreciation for SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's continued encouragement.

Following a performance by women members, SGI-Thailand Executive Chair Somsak Likitjariyanon asked everyone to renew their determinations to advance peace, culture and education within their communities.
