2011 marks the 24th anniversary of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's first visit (February 8, 1987) to the Dominican Republic.

On February 13, SGI-Dominican Republic members held a commemorative meeting in the spirit of sharing the importance of the mentor and disciple relationship to future generations.

Youth members took the initiative to organize and present the history of SGI-Dominica's activities to promote peace. They also shared stories about the country's pioneering SGI members, whom they interviewed for the presentation.

The SGI-Dominican Republic Brass Band and Fife-and-Drum Corps performed at the meeting as well as women from SGI-Dominican Republic's Emerald Choir.
