SGI-Cambodia Youth Hold Meetings
SGI-Cambodia young women members held their Phnom Penh Chapter General Meeting at the SGI-Cambodia Culture Center on July 10. The theme of the meeting was "Live Your Youth Undefeated by Anything," and participants read SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's encouragement to young women and learned about the history of the Young Women's Group.
Group discussions were also held on topics such as how to solve family conflicts. The meeting also touched upon social issues within the country, such as kidnapping, sexual harassment and traffic accidents. SGI-Cambodia Young Women Division Leader Sok Sowathavy spoke about ways in which women can protect themselves against these situations and encouraged them to help create harmonious communities through putting into action their Buddhist practice and dialoguing with others. She quoted Mr. Ikeda's encouragement to young women in which he states: "Faith manifests itself as wisdom. The purpose of our faith is to become wise, so that we can live wisely."
The Young Men's Phnom Penh Chapter General Meeting was also held at the Cambodia Culture Center on July 17. The theme of the meeting was "Bringing Out Your Unlimited Potential to Live a Victorious Life." The young men studied the writings of Mr. Ikeda, learned about the history of the Young Men's Group and shared their experience of practicing Buddhism.
