Lotus Sutra Exhibition Shown in Brazil

The Institute of Oriental Philosophy (IOP), together with SGI-Brazil, cosponsored the "Lotus Sutra: A Message of Peace and Harmonious Coexistence" exhibition at the Brazil Ikeda Culture Center in São Paulo, Brazil from April 6-23. Some 5,500 attended the showing.

On display were the Lotus Sutra Manuscript Series published by the Soka Gakkai as well as the Kern-Nanjio edition (published in 1908-12) of the Sanskrit Lotus Sutra, considered to be the first critical edition of the Sanskrit Lotus Sutra.

Guests to the exhibition opening on April 6 numbered 150 and included well-known Brazilian musician José Carlos Amaral Vieira.

The secretary of Environment for the Municipality of São Paulo, Eduardo Jorge Martins Alves Sobrinho, expressed his appreciation for the holding of the exhibition.  

Professor Mohamed Ezz El Din Mostafa Habib from the State University of Campinas in São Paulo State also expressed his hope that the teachings of the Lotus Sutra would continue to promote the universal values of peace and harmonious coexistence.
