SGI-Peru held its fifth national leaders meeting at the Peru Culture Center in Lima on December 12. Some 800 attended the gathering, at which SGI-Peru's young men's brass band and young women's fife-and-drum corps performed.

An SGI-Peru youth shared his resolution to support his peers in developing their capability. Several SGI-Peru members told how, based on their practice of Nichiren Buddhism, they became trusted within their local communities.

Longtime leader of SGI-Peru Carlos Shima spoke on Nichiren's writing "The Supremacy of the Law," which emphasizes the importance of strengthening one's faith and developing a strong resolve to tackle any obstacle with the same spirit as one's mentor in Buddhism.

SGI-Peru General Director José Juárez Salazar expressed his hope that SGI-Peru members would further challenge themselves in building a peaceful society.
