In Sierra Leone, some 150 SGI members commemorated the day by hosting a discussion meeting with the theme "Philosophy of Human Revolution--the Key to a Victorious Life" in Freetown on November 21. SGI members in Chile celebrated Soka Gakkai Day by holding a meeting at the SGI-Chile Culture Center in Santiago on November 7. On this occasion, youth leaders called on participants to join them in becoming leading protagonists in the world peace movement. SGI-Chile General Director Fumio Imai encouraged everyone to experience the true benefit of Nichiren Buddhism by challenging themselves to grow and expand their lives more.

In Nepal, SGI members celebrated the anniversary of the Soka Gakkai in conjunction with the 15th anniversary of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's visit to their country in October 1995. The meeting was held at the SGI-Nepal Peace Center in Kathmandu from November 18-20.

On the first day, SGI-Nepal representatives introduced the activities and developments of their local SGI community over the past year and shared their determinations for the upcoming New Year. The meeting also included a presentation on the founding of the Soka Gakkai and an exhibition tracing its 80-year history.
