SGI-Greece Holds General Meetings

On June 5, 2010, SGI-Greece young women held a general meeting in Athens, Greece. Within the context of Greece's recent economic crisis, which has affected all of Europe, the young women were encouraged to become beacons of hope in the face of indifference and resignation within society.

Participants studied and discussed SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's encouragement to Young Women's Group members in which he writes about developing the strength to never be defeated.

On the same day, some 80 members of the Women's Group held a meeting based on the theme "Let's Fulfill our Determinations." Participants studied the Buddhist concept of three thousand realms in a single moment of life, which clarifies why the present moment is crucial for making causes for one's future and happiness.

Also, on June 6, SGI-Greece members held a general meeting in Athens. Participants studied Nichiren's writing "The Three Kinds of Treasures" (WND, p. 848), and discussed the importance of becoming people who can impart courage and vitality to others through taking action based on challenging one's hardships with a positive spirit of "turning poison into medicine."

SGI-Greece General Director Dimitri Dimopoulos and Women's Leader Monika Vermeulen attended and shared their resolve to pray and act with the shared spirit of mentor and disciple and to contribute to the betterment of their country.
