Founding of Soka Activity Support Groups Commemorated
Soka Group members in OttawaSGI-Canada members held meetings in their respective areas in commemoration of the November 2, 1976, founding of the SGI's Soka Group--a young men's activity support group. SGI President Daisaku Ikeda sent a heartfelt message asking the youthful Soka Group members in Canada to always maintain a "Never Be Defeated" spirit.
Soka Group members participated in an interactive study of excerpts from Mr. Ikeda's novelized account of the history of Soka Gakkai, The Human Revolution, as well as cultural performances, which provided opportunities to learn about the history and fundamental spirit of the Soka Group.
In November, a series of excerpts from The New Human Revolution on the creation of the Soka Group, the Gajokai (a young men's security group) and the young women's activity support group, Byakuren [White Lotus], was featured in Soka Gakkai's organ newspaper, Seikyo Shimbun, to mark the anniversary of the groups' founding.
