SGI-Korea Members Study Nichiren's Writings
At the SGI-Korea headquarters building in SeoulFrom May 17-18, 2010, representative SGI-Korea members participated in a study session at the SGI-Korea headquarters building in Seoul, South Korea. SGI Study Department Leader Katsuji Saito lectured on two of Nichiren's most important writings, "The Opening of the Eyes" and "The Heritage of the Ultimate Law of Life," and spoke about the essence of Nichiren’s Buddhism and the significance and nature of the mentor and disciple relationship in the history and practice of Buddhism.
In "The Heritage of the Ultimate Law of Life," written during his exile on Sado Island and addressed to one of his disciples, Sairen-bo Nichijo, Nichiren highlights the value of unity among teacher and students, especially with regard to a shared vision of world peace.
Mr. Saito also introduced SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's writings which encourage each individual to live a contributive life and overcome any obstacles with courage and perseverance.
