SGI-Poland Holds General Meeting


On March 20, 2010, over 100 SGI-Poland members gathered for a general meeting in Warsaw. SGI-Europe Chair Hideaki Takahashi attended and congratulated SGI-Poland on its growth. New leadership appointments announced included: SGI-Poland Area Men's Leader Antonio Angotti; Area Women's Leader Maria Markiewicz; Secretary General Tsuruko Haga Sajecka; Youth Leader Cristiano Piccinini; Young Men's Leader Robert Król and Young Women's Leader Rachel O'Ryan.

Mr. Angotti and Ms. Markiewicz reported on a recent SGI training course they attended in Tokyo, Japan. They conveyed SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's regards and encouragement to the SGI-Poland members, including his hope for the advancement of peace in Poland.

SGI-Europe Vice Chair Peter Kühn and SGI-Europe Women's Chair Sakae Takahashi also spoke about Mr.Ikeda's commitment to working for world peace and encouraged everyone to live each day with this shared spirit.

The meeting included a question and answer session which focused on how best to contribute to society as a citizen and as a Buddhist.

2010 marks 18 years since the establishment of SGI-Poland. Members attending the meeting commented that they redetermined to live each day with joy, making great personal advancements toward 2011, which marks the 50th anniversary of Mr. Ikeda's first visit to Europe in 1961.
