SGI-Belgium Youth Commemorate March 16

On March 14, 2010, SGI-Belgium youth held a general meeting commemorating March 16, the day when second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda bequeathed the goal of realizing lasting peace and happiness, based on the humanistic philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism, to a gathering of 6,000 Soka Gakkai young men and women. Less than a month after this historic day, Josei Toda passed away on April 2, 1958.

The commemorative meeting was held at the SGI-Belgium Culture Center and included members sharing their experiences related to their practice of Buddhism. SGI-Belgium General Director Kiyoshi Shimura and Youth Leader Stephane Phuong attended and encouraged those attending.

Leading up to the March 16 meeting, SGI-Belgium youth members held local, community-based discussion meetings since the end of 2009. Over 500 attended the many gatherings.
