SGI Members Attend Spring Training Session in Japan
On March 6, 2010, a Headquarters Leaders Meeting took place at the Tokyo Makiguchi Memorial Hall in Hachioji, Tokyo, in conjunction with the SGI Spring Training Session. Over 250 SGI members from 60 countries and territories attended.
In his speech to participants, SGI President Daisaku Ikeda encouraged everyone to become "kings of dialogue" and "heroes of peace." He thanked the many SGI members from abroad who had traveled long distances to attend the leaders meeting and called on each of them to live life joyfully, never allowing themselves to be defeated by difficulties.
On March 7, Spring Training Session participants from South Africa, Zambia, Kenya and Italy attended cultural exchange meetings in the Kanto region. SGI-Italy members travelled to the Kawaguchi Culture Center in Saitama Prefecture, while members from Africa attended a Soka Gakkai Men's General Meeting at the Chiba Peace Center in Chiba Prefecture. The gatherings included the sharing of faith-based experiences from SGI members and reports about the various SGI activities within their respective countries. The meeting in Saitama also included a performance of a traditional Italian folk song by Japanese members.
