On March 4, 2010, the opening ceremony for the SGI Spring Training Session took place at the Soka International Friendship Hall in Sendagaya, Tokyo, Japan. Approximately 250 people from 60 countries gathered.

The ceremony commenced with a message from SGI President Daisaku Ikeda to participants, followed by words from SGI Secretary-General (Executive Director) Hisao Matsuyama. SGI-Cameroon General Director Claire Dikongue also shared a report about SGI members in her country. Ms. Dikongue spoke about how SGI-Cameroon has continued to expand, with meetings taking place at 210 venues since January. She also conveyed SGI-Cameroon members' vow to make Africa the continent of hope in the 21st century.

Following Ms. Dikongue's speech, SGI Women's Leader Kayoko Asano and SGI General Director Yoshitaka Oba spoke. Mr. Oba called on participants to become leading actors in the movement for world peace, proudly creating a history of the victory of mentor and disciple.

After the opening ceremony, Soka Gakkai Vice General Director Shigeo Hasegawa officially commenced the training session with a lecture on Nichiren's writings and Mr. Ikeda's guidance.
