SGI-Haiti and Dominican Republic Members Attend Joint Meeting in Haiti
On February 21, 2010, SGI members from Haiti and the Dominican Republic held a joint discussion meeting in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
In spite of the incredible destruction caused by the recent earthquake in Haiti, SGI-Haiti members expressed their determination not to be defeated and to transform their suffering into joy.
SGI-Dominican Republic Women's Leader Leiko Komatsu shared messages received from SGI members around the world conveying their heartfelt support for Haitians. In addition, SGI-Haiti members took delivery of tents, mosquito nets and pneumatic mattresses sent by SGI members in the Dominican Republic and in Columbia.
At the meeting, SGI-Haiti Chapter Leader Pierre Niaud expressed his deep appreciation for SGI President Daisaku Ikeda and the SGI members' words of encouragement. The meeting ended with the women and young women performing a song.
